Hi, I'm LaShonda Lewis, founder of HackHERproof.
I created HackHERproof to make cybersecurity education more human and turn awareness into action. HackHERproof is a human-centered cybersecurity education and awareness company focused on reducing human risk through practical education, behavior change and stronger security habits.
Because knowing what a cyber threat looks like isn't enough. People need the confidence and skills to make safer decisions when it matters.
My Story
My path to cybersecurity didn't start with cybersecurity. It started with understanding people and communication.
I earned undergraduate degrees in Mass Communication and Political Science, which gave me an early foundation in how people receive information, what makes messages resonate and how communication can influence decisions and behavior.
As my interest in technology and cybersecurity grew, I pursued a Master of Science in Information Technology and Management with a concentration in cybersecurity. I also earned the ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) certification, strengthening the technical foundation behind the work I do today.
My professional experience brought those worlds together.
Working in cybersecurity showed me that organizations can invest heavily in technology and still face significant risk when attackers target the people behind it. Phishing, social engineering, impersonation and AI-powered scams are designed to influence human behavior by exploiting emotions like urgency, fear, curiosity and trust.
That realization became the foundation for HackHERproof.
I saw an opportunity to approach cybersecurity awareness differently. Instead of simply telling people what not to do, HackHERproof focuses on helping people understand why attacks work, recognize the behaviors attackers try to exploit and build safer habits they can use in real situations.
Because awareness alone doesn't reduce human risk. Behavior change does.
Today, I bring together my background in communications, cybersecurity, program management and education to create learning experiences designed to move people from simply knowing about cybersecurity to practicing it.
HackHERproof is building toward a future where cybersecurity education is continuous, relevant and measurable, helping organizations strengthen their human layer of defense by creating lasting security behaviors, not simply checking a training box.
